Raybo The ESC programmer has a brake setting labeled "Max Brake Force". You can select 25, 50, 75 or 100%. seems to control how quickly you stop when you are off the power.

Raybo I just hook mine too an unused output on my receiver. This provides 5v and works just fine. This also protects the battery since the esc handle low voltage cutoff.

Raybo 14 or 12 AWG should work well for test lead wires.

Raybo yes, you can test a brushless motor with this.

Raybo No,but the driver is, and that makes the bits magnetic when in use.
