More than just a replacement for a crashed qwad, the TYRO 79 frame kit is a great start for a custom build like the TYRO 79 ULTRA shown below. Painted silver to match the Ethix motors, the ULTRA features a Mamba mini stack, an AKK micro VTX, a Foxeer micro cam, an XM+ receiver, a Lollipop antenna, and a 7 1/2 minute flight time on an RDQ 850 4S LIHV lipo. Build one for yourself and have some fun!

The Tyro79 has been around for a while but for the money, even at 40% over MSRP, it's still a heck of a deal. You'll need some aftermarket props, M2 standoffs, screws, and nuts to replace the ones that come with it . But it's still a deal and a nice little qwad. See the attached pics for some battery recommendations. The RDQ 720 (100C) and the 850 (60C) are some excellent choices at 66g and 69g, respectively. Great pricing, too!

The Tyro79 is a fun DIY build. Just bought my third one. Durable and fun to fly. You can't build one cheaper than this for even twice the price. Good way to get started building qwads, too. Pics below are of a custom Tyro79. Repainted gray and outfitted with upgraded parts. A few battery selections below. Get a Tyro 79 and have fun flying your own build

robibeaufor Our favorite lipos for the Tyro 79 are the RDQ 4S, 720 (100C) and the 4S, 850 (60C) that weigh in at 66g and 69g, respectively. Price is right, too!

This is my favorite frame for beginning any build and for testing various setups. Here is an example of replacing the standard 35 mm standoffs with 25 mm units to reduce the profile similar to Armatan quads. This allows for top mounted battery options and a very stable flight. The shorter standoffs require the use of the bracket that comes with most FPV cams, in this case a Caddx Ratel. The frame has two holes in the top plate to accommodate such a setup. Mini or micro cams will fit but with limited uptilt. This frame is extremely versatile due to its overall simplicity. I've created a dozen builds with this frame, all different and all very flyable. This particular setup uses 32 bit ESCs, a Matek AIO F4, DYS SAMGUK 2700KV,and FrSky XM+. You can't go wrong buying this frame structurally or financially. Give it a try.

robibeaufor I'd really like the manufacturer of this frame to return to a 2mm top plate or greater for this frame. Attaching a battery to a 1.5mm top plate is not a good idea.

This is a great frame for any build. Good quality and well designed. Lot's of setup options. Main standoffs can be replaced with shorter ones (25 mm) for short stacks significantly lowering the frame profile. Requires using a micro cam bracket attached to the upper plate. At this price you have to buy it.
