Erwin 1): Turn off the device, Press P4+FUNC+POWER ON KEY (at the same time press 3 keys), then power on. 2): Rotate the channel knob to Choose to Mode menu 3) Press and hold PTT key on the external speaker mic. MODE no. Change to blue color, then rotate the channel knob to choose the frequency band you need. When you choose Mode 2,then you can use the full frequency. 136-174 MHz and 400-490MHz. 4)Turn off the device, then turn on again. Will be the new frequency band you setted.

Q: how do you connect it to the app

Erwin If you can read Chinese than you might be able to download the correct app and use it. Since the manual is all Chinese I was unable to use it the way described and download the app either.

Q: where does the meter connect to the radio?

Erwin Hello Clyde, the meter connects under the left hand side of the bottom of the FT-857 when looking towards the front of the Ft-857 (same side as the microphone exits)

Erwin This screw is meant to be TIG welded on to tank where the transducer is supposed to be glued on. So you first weld the screw to the tank then apply some glue to the transducer and then you screw it on to the onwelded screw thigthly flush to the tank's bottom.
