biglarrr There are probably fifty companies that make after-market shocks that can be used on the 9105 Thunder. Extend your shock all the way open and measure the distance from center of top hole to center of bottom hole, then run a search. I'm not going to measure for you, but off the top of my head I seem to remember that the standard shock length (center hole to center hole) is 87mm. There are several shock brands that have either that exact length, or shorter and longer if that is what you're looking for. NOTE: From my experience, You will be breaking axles if you put longer shocks on, since the increased angle will cause interference with the dogbones, and the wheel hub. Also, after multiple experiments, I am running the stock shocks. They work the best for me.

biglarrr This is nearly impossible question to answer. It depends on the weight of your vehicle. It depends on the tire size of your vehicle. It depends on whether your motor mount is adjustable to allow for different pinion gear experimentation. The best suggestion I can offer is check to see if your motor mount is adjustable. If it is, buy the fastest in this 2845 size (the 5900), and buy a package of pinion gears (usually four different sizes). Try each size pinion and check how hot the motor gets every minute or so during your run. You should still be able to touch your motor for a few seconds at the end of your run. As soon as it's too hot to touch, shut it off and go to a smaller pinion gear.

biglarrr I put this motor in my FY01 and it was very much faster. You may have to cut away one piece of the cage. You might be better off with the 2830, but I don't know if it performs as well as the 2845.

biglarrr I would like to see BG make a statement regarding this. Their advertising claims it's easily upgradeable. It's not easy if there aren't parts. Anything is upgradable if you want to throw enough money at it, but even the claim they make that you can upgrade to brushless, will add $100 to the cost of this truck, and you could buy a much higher quality RC truck that doesn't need any upgrades for $185. I like the looks of this one, and have been thinking a lot about making it a project, but - - - PXtoys generally does not sell parts separately. You would have to do a lot of searching to find other manufacturers that make parts that could be adapted to work with this 9204E.

biglarrr Minimally you will need a Brushless motor, Brushless ESC, Receiver and Transmitter, 3 wire servo. Transmitter and Receiver approx $30, Brushless ESC minimally $18, 3 wire servo minimally $5, Brushless Motor minimally $12 About $75 give or take Probably a few pinion gears to experiment with proper gearing. There's a lot of guess work involved on servo sizes and placement of receiver, and ESC, and the right motor. If You know someone who has already done it, ask for help.
