The machine frame is very solid, although it is made from metal and plastic parts. The linear rods are 10 mm in diameter, not 8 mm like the ones from 3D printers. It uses a custom made ATmega328p based control board running GRBL 0.9j. I like that it has an offline controller which allows me to load Gcode from SD card and keep my computer away from the CNC. In the product description, they say you should not upgrade to GRBL 1.1. I did that and the CNC works smoothly (I flashed the precompiled GRBL 1.1h using avrdude - the board has Arduino bootloader). After flashing new firmware, all settings need to be checked and set back to machine defaults (which you should get before updating firmware). By default, mine came with inverted Y axis (see the mirrored text on the red plywood). This can be fixed by sending $3=2 to GRBL (setting is saved in EEPROM and is stored even after power off). Another thing to mention is that you should double-check all screws, especially the ones from pre-assembled Z axis and spindle. My Z-axis lead screw slipped from motor axis, the spindle couldn't be lifted and I broke the bit. Spindle motor RPM is another unknown thing about these machines, and I'm thinking of measuring it. Last, use a grease spray and lubricate lead screws and linear rods. It is also important to keep these parts clean.

This is a great printer. Arrived in perfect condition with very good packing. It is easy to assemble and set up. Printing is smooth, silent and reliable. I was surprised to see that it uses many metallic parts at XZ gantry, instead of plastic. I noticed a small issue though, that could cause the filament runout sensor to malfunction by breaking its cable. The cable exits V-Slot too high and can get smashed by XZ gantry when at low Z. I did slide down the plastic profile which keeps cable in V-Slot and everything is perfect. Genius Pro has 32-bit motherboard. My printer is running Marlin 2.0.9.1 which is a recent version of the firmware.

OneTransistor I got it with the same type of power plug. Eventually, I cut that one and replaced it with an European type. Even though they sent me an adapter, too many plugs with non perfect electrical contact cam cause issues while operating the machine.

Alle Teile der Sendung sind sehr gut verpackt. Die Aufbauanleitung ist zwar bedingt ausreichend. Die Bezeichnung der Schraubengröße ist richtig, in der Schraubenbox befinden sich aber zwei verschiedene Schrauben der gleichen Sorte (schwarz und vernickelt). Die Bebilderung ist ok - die Schrift jedoch sogar mit Brille zu klein gedruckt. Auch ein Hinweis wo der Datenträger versteckt war - wäre fürs erste hilfreich. Die Passgenauigkeit der Teile ist gut. Leider ist bei mir ein Netzteil mit falschem Stecker angekommen 😡 Siehe Bild. Die Kommunikation mit dem Kundenservice ist sehr umständlich. Weitere Erfahrungen folgen nach den ersten Test (Soft- und Hardware).

OneTransistor@D1rTy_H4rRy_GR To get the current configuration of GRBL send $$ in Candle (grlbControl) or UGS console. The machine will send you a text report with all settings. Keep this text for later. After upgrade send $$ again and modify all settings that need to be modified (for example send $3=2 to set parameter 3 to value 2). I wrote a post about this on my website (onetransistor dot eu). There is no bug in 0.9 regarding Z axis. maybe your job gcode contains instructions that alter Z or attempt homing.

OneTransistor GRBL has settings for changing stepper direction. There is no need to reverse wires.

Everything was supplied but the spindle has a 0.6mm runout, would need to do some upgrades to get to the 0.1mm as advertised. The firmware was also outdated and the manual controls didn't work with Candle so I updated the firmware to 1.1 so all the steppers ran in the wrong direction, so I had to reverse the wire configuration. Its okay for its price class, but for PCB printing you need some upgrade and mods to improve precision before it becomes useful.

OneTransistor The printer has a switch in the back which allows you to select correct mains voltage. Make sure it is set correctly before powering up!

This is a must-have tool. The pliers are very solid and bigger than other similar products. The product comes with 7 + 1 crimping jaws which are suitable for most terminal connectors. Although not specifically noted in the description, the set comes with a bag.

Very good power supply. It can handle high currents with no problem, it does not get hot. On the inside it is well built, with a large heatsink. The circuit is based on the well known TL494 controller. Front panel indicators are quite precise and if there's a problem they can be calibrated (there are two preset resistors on the PCB). The switching transistors and the output rectifier are isolated and placed on the same heatsink. Between them is a diode in thermal contact with the heatsink. This is probably used as temperature sensor for the cooling fan. So far I wasn't able to get it hot enough to turn on the fan. Overall this is a good design at an affordable price.

It looks good and it sounds good. Easy to connect via Bluetooth with phone or laptop. Volume control is digital, with encoder. The TPA3116 does not have a heatsink, but this is no problem since it does not get hot during common usage. The digital part (including USB port) is powered from a linear 78M05 regulator. Keep this in mind when plugging anything in the USB port (the maximum current supplied by this regulator is 0.5 A and it will get quite hot). FAT32 formatted USB thumb drive works great but do not plug external hard drive that requires higher current.

Overall, it is a good addition to my printer. Had some issues with it (sometimes the pin would stuck, on some occasions the pin falls on the print). Precision is good.

Very good oscilloscope for this price. It is an older design, but Hantek still offers firmware updates for it. It is widely used and doesn't have glitches and bugs.
