سؤال: I purchased this kit from Amazon twice and it has the same fault as already described. When you turn on you don’t get the First character on the word COLOR, or any of the entries you can choose gives the same fault, if I press ON again the 1st character appears. Has anyone else had the same issue could be a pic chip issue?

The clock runs fast and gains over 1 minute per hour and is not fit for purpose. This appears to be a common problem with no solution forthcoming. A shame really because it's an attractive product.

Fairly easy to build but care has to be taken with soldering the surface mount IC chip. Works quite well on FM, AM not so good.

Be careful to observe there are 2 different types of transistor in this kit. If you get them in the wrong places the dice rolls won't display properly.

An unusual set running on 1.5V. Quite easy to build although the aerial coils on the ferrite rod are a little fiddly.Had a faulty on/off switch which made me think radio was dead. Fitted a separate switch to the case and radio works well but requires alignment for best performance. Quite sensitive and pulls in loads of stations.

The product description says it comes with a 5V adapter, it doesn't. The instructions are so small you need a magnifying glass to read them. They tell you to use the UP and DOWN keys for setting the time, date etc. There are no UP and DOWN keys. If you use the clock on 5V USB the batteries do not backup the settings. You'll have to go through all the settings again if you unplug it or suffer a power cut. Apart from these niggles it's decent clock and appears to be keeping good time.
