The motor is just some of the shelf brushed DC motor with non-replacable brushes. The gears are powdered metal, the grease doesn't seem to be too bad. The chuck is unbranded and rusts quickly. The hammering action is pretty much useless. Cons: the connection between the motor and the gearbox is pretty weak, just two little plastic notches. It might fail after a fall. The carbon brushes are not replaceable, are a little too small and therefore get very hot very quickly. They spark at spinup and at spindown. If this drill fails, it is most likely due to molten brushholders. Pro's: for the price, this is unbeatable. It's pretty strong as well. I'm curious to see how long it lasts.
