I have had serious trouble getting this module to work! I was on the brink of calling yet another failure from BG. (I have had a 'few') But then I found something on the web. A different setup procedure. Which worked! Trouble is, that you have absolutely no documentation what so ever from BG. And there seems to be many different look-alike modules out there. You need a device address in the first place just to start working with it, and mine vas detected at 0x3f, where most boards are said to be at 0x27. Locate one scanner code at : http://www.14core.com/scanning-i2c-device-address-for-arduino/ Then the first that happened, when I started accessing the display, was that the backlight turned off! This is still a problem, as I have yet not found out how to control that. (Missing documentation for which version of what module, you know) But I have found a way, so I can use the module, even though I can not turn it off by command. Manually short pin 1 (marked VSS) and 16 (marked K)! This will bypass the backlight switch, and you will still have the manual switch jumper on the daughter module. Uploaded is a stitched together picture of my module with the bypass running the code also shown. It is using the LCD code found here: https://bitbucket.org/fmalpartida/new-liquidcrystal/downloads I hope they will accept the upload. Otherwise many may have trouble learning how to work with this thing. If You should know how to control the backligt, please place a comment. Simply using backlight command fails in the compiler for me!
