I don't have many storms in my area so it took me a lot of time to put this to the test... I found Arduino code to interface with the chip and it seems to communicate all right (register information going back and forth, noise level reports etc.) but on three different storms it simply did not detect ANY lightning from ANY distance, even when it was practically over my head. Maybe I'm missing something, but from what I've seen so far you can detect lightnings at the same level of success with a potato.
