The conception is well done, it is water proof and designed to dissipate the heat. The metal gets quite hot on the 30W version, about 60C with an ambient temp of 25C. It is not really a problem as it is intended to be used during the night when the temperature is low. There is no AC filtering on the power hence there is a 50Hz flickering, more or less like with an old fluorescent bulb, unfortunately there is no room inside to add an extra capacitor to correct this.
