The coarser grits of these work great for reprofiling and repairing chipped edges. They remove metal quickly, and the diamond abrasive has good durability for such a low-priced plate. I've formed new edges on half a dozen knives and reground three tips with my 80 grit plate (bottom, in the photo) and it's still going strong. The fine grits, however have poor durability. A few minutes of sharpening a single chef knife on the 2000 grit plate stripped all the abrasive from the plate, rendering it useless.
